back at Champoeg State Park

We got back to our camp site about 4:00 pm and we went for a bicycle ride to check out the park. The best discovery was a paved bicycle path that ran along the Willamette river for several miles.

There are several historic buildings in the park that I hope to explore tomorrow morning. Dinner tonight was vegetarian enchiladas followed by watermelon. Life is good!

Oregon Wine Country

After having lunch in McMinnville, Frank and I visited the Anne Amie Vineyard in Yamhill Oregon. Wine Tasting was much less expensive than Napa (only $10 for six wines). We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a fantastic view as the sun broke through the afternoon clouds.

We especially enjoyed their Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir 2008, and a dessert wine called Rubio.

Champoeg, Oregon

What a great day! After a leisurely breakfast, Frank and I drove into McMinnville to the Evergreen AeroSpace Museum. The picture you see below is a 747 sitting on top of the new educational water park that will open at the museum in June. We particularly enjoyed the IMAX production of Hubble in 3-D. It was spectacular! A couple of times I was so dizzy I had to close my eyes.

After the movie - we went back to the museum so Frank could tell me about his favorite aircrafts.

Easter Weekend

Sunday morning we took Mom out to breakfast at Scotty's - an old childhood favorite. The waitress was wearing a special Easter bonnet that she had made. She certainly was "in the spirit".

In the afternoon we joined the Forma's for a gathering of the clan at Leah's house. Four generations were present, and everyone enjoyed the egg hunt, trampoline, and hill slide.

Touring Napa

Check out the Beringer estate in Napa. We enjoyed a late afternoon tour of Napa Valley with Michael and Bunny. We ended the evening with dinner at Mustard's Grill. I had Mongolian pork chops with sweet and sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes . To die for!

Just arrived in Napa

After pulling into the Napa Expo RV Park and quickly setting up our site, Frank immediately left for nine holes of golf with Michael and his friends. Bunny and I went to the Napa General Store where we sat and talked as we each enjoyed a glass of wine. The outdoor garden was lovely and we were surrounded with gorgeous yellow roses. On the wall opposite to our table was an incredible tile mosaic. See if you can spot the beaver!

Since it was Good Friday, Bunny and I joined her daughters for an evening service that was well attended by members of three local churches. The minister's message focused on the importance of obedience and was a good reminder to "be still and listen". After church, we caught up with Frank and Michael and enjoyed a bonfire in the cool night air with some of their friends.

The RV park is immaculate and very roomy so we should be quite comfortable during our stay here.

The Sequoias

We pulled into camp around six o'clock tonight, and our site is right next to a lovely river just outside of a colorful town named Three Rivers. We set-up quickly and I cooked vegetarian chili for dinner. Dessert was a bowl of fresh strawberries that I picked up at a roadside stand. Tomorrow we will cruise the sequoias and I will be sure to take some pictures to post - so check back. Time to turn in - fun day tomorrow!

Sourdough bread

Gave some of my starter to Leilani. Believe it or not we ate the whole loaf in one day.

Mission Viejo

We just spent five great days visiting Luke, Leilani, and Elizabeth. The baby is a very happy and healthy child and we had a ball spending some quality time with her. Bogie (our toy Aussie) and Elizabeth were great friends - see picture from an outing to Irvine Park.
Luke and Frank managed to play 18 holes at local course while Leilani and I baked bread, and took Elizabeth to her Gymboree classes. The five days went by so quickly - wish we lived closer!

The RV

Well we bought a brand new Rv trailer - but so far we've had some bad luck and have had to replace the toilet; repair three different leaks in the water system; move and re-weld a wrongly placed stabilizer; and have the trailer hitch raised (after we came partially unhitched twice!). Do you think we are being tested? All of this and we are just now on the 4 th day of our first excursion.
Other than these set-backs we are doing well - I think.
