Spring is Here

What a great day! The sun was out and the temperature was in the 60's. Frank and I went to a nursery in Redmond and scouted out some trees for our garden.

While we were there, we came across a 5 foot giant sequoia. Naturally we had to buy it for our yard. We also bought an 9 foot tamarack tree. (Nothing like planting a tree to make your mark on this earth.) The tamarack (a larch tree) looks like a regular conifer but the needles turn brilliant yellow in the fall and then goes bare. It should look spectacular in the fall.

Fantastic- I love planting trees as well. We do that with our live Christmas trees. What else are you planting this spring?

Great to hear from you. We saw a really neat tree at the nursery that looks like some sort of decorative pine tree - sort of like a gnarled bonsai pine tree - when we go back to buy it (next month) I will find out the name and tell you. I'd love to plant a fruit tree too. Do you have any suggestions for the Sisters area?
In the last two years we also planted seven aspens , one red maple, 12 spruces, and a European birch!
